Mental/Behavioral Health Supports

At a time when so many lives have been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and face-to-face mental health appointments can be challenging to schedule, timely access to outpatient care, and access in new and unique ways, is more important than ever. Behavioral health coaching and peer support services for low acuity issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, relationship issues and even substance use have quickly become a standard treatment option as they are effective and affordable, especially when delivered in a digital and virtual manner. Behavioral health coaching and peer support services are now a covered benefit via the Cigna Behavioral Health network. Customers can access coaching and peer support services as a first treatment option to provide more affordable care.

  • Effective April 22, 2021 Cigna has contracted with Ginger, an on-demand 24/7 virtual behavioral health coaching provider, to further extend behavioral health access for our customers. Ginger’s mental health system provides access to care within two minutes of making the decision to reach out for help. Customers use these services through their standard behavioral health benefits. For clients, there is no added administrative cost. Customers can immediately begin accessing Ginger. Customer cost share, deductibles and OOP will be the same as with any other in-network Behavioral Health Office Visit based on plan design.
